There whould be an add friends button like there was in TWO so that would be great afro if you put that on the next update.

But if he did implement it there won't be any purpose. No little bubble pops up or anything when they're online and I've suggested this before.

They appear at the top of the list...and their name is green. If they are a friend

Re: *friends

Why does the font need to be a different color if they're a friend?

Re: *friends

No, they just had ++ on either side of their name and went to the top of the list.

Re: *friends

I left this out because I felt the original system was very half-assed to begin with (in TWO)
the main problem is that the server doesn't really support the kind of system needed for a true friends list.
xgen had at one point talked about a global messaging system between all their games, but chances are that wont actually happen.
I can go back to highlighting names in the lobby but I feel like people would expect more out of it.

a true friends list requires more storage and processing for the server than we'd prefer to allow. with the old system you simply keep a list of your friends on your computer. when the game sees their name in the lobby, it highlights them.

with a real system you'd have to keep this list synced with the server, and we'd also have to start tracking which lobbies and server everyone is currently in. this list would need to be updated whenever you add or delete a friend. every time anyone logs in we'd have to check all friend lists for all people on the server, and send them an update. we'd then have to run a routine that periodically updates all the friends in your list to make sure information is up to date (like if a friend transfers from a lobby to a match), or to see if they logged off entirely. we'd also have to implement a global messaging system that lets you message someone no matter where they are- this could get confusing if you have a friend messaging you from another lobby or inside a game. with this comes a whole set of in-game controls to determine when and how a friend can contact you, whether or not you appear 'online' or not, and other things.

but I suppose if everyone wants the old TWO friend system I can do that instead hmm

Re: *friends

Don't worry about the friend system, it seems like people are once again clustering in one lobby, so if someone is that important to you chances are eventually, you will run into them down the road.

Re: *friends

Just because something was a certain way in TWO, does not mean it needs to be that way in TWO3.

Re: *friends

I don't think it's necessary for now, but soon, if tw3 gets popular, we'll need it, unless you make more room
